You agree to never have the cat declawed. Having a cat declawed is not only a painful and unnecessary procedure for the cat, it can be extremely harmful. If you are worried about the cat scratching furniture, we have much safer alternatives that we can recommend to preventing "cat scratch" damage to your home. 2. You acknowledge that adopting a cat is a long-term commitment, often lasting 15-20 years, and that you are prepared to make that commitment. 3. You understand and accept the challenges involved in cat ownership, including but not limited to: - Cat scratching furniture - Maintaining and cleaning litter boxes - The cost of veterinary care - Providing regular meals and fresh water - Managing behavioral issues - Ensuring regular veterinary check-ups - Providing a stimulating and safe environment We will provide you with information on how to handle common challenges associated with cat ownership. 4. You agree to make every effort to resolve any issues that arise before considering re-homing the cat. If you are unable to resolve issues and feel that it is necessary to re-home the cat, you agree to return the cat to The Scratch Pad. Re-homing a cat and getting it acclimated to a new environment is extremely stressful to the cat, especially once they are over one year of age. Changing environments multiple times during a cats life can cause emotional damage and mistrust in the cat, making it increasingly difficult for the cat to be placed in a new home. 5. If any problems arise with integrating the cat into your home withing the first 60 days, you agree to bring the cat back to The Scratch Pad. No refund of the adoption fee will be provided, but under certain circumstances, it may be possible to exchange it for a different cat.
